Citybus

by Paul Fogarty

/

about

I wrote this song a year out of high school. This is the first ever recording of the song.

lyrics

Riding on a city bus everyone is the same
businessman with newspaper ignores me yet again
bus driver is yawning wishes he could be somewhere
Mrs Mavis Wellington is gardening her hair

Old ladies with sagging faces look me up and down
Idiots with golden ear-rings playing like a clown
little lovely lady says I’m sitting on her chair
Nobody else says anything they do not seem to care

Everybody watches as you slip in from the rain
leaving all the world outside it’s still the same old game
here inside our cubicle there’s nothing ever new
all the programs are the same, nothing is ever new
